Kalani CoastY Logo The 200 Hour, Yoga Teacher Training is the first step in you taking time to invest in something greater than self!  It will be a time of many changes, and it is only the beginning. Our environment is structured to nurture you as the teacher you will become.

We are an accredited and Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance, and our programming is recognized and accepted world-wide.  All students who complete this program will be certified to teach Yoga, no further training is required.
Our Intensive Immersion Program has a unique benefit in that we cap our program at 18 Students.  This allows for personal attention from the teachers and direct one-on-one time with all the students.  It also allows us to spend these 22 days living Yoga not simply learning Yoga – the practice off the mat being just as important.
Rest-assured that our program is focused on you, the student, and the student becoming the teacher. Your teaching will be a direct reflection of our program and our intention is based on providing you with all the tools you need to succeed. We will have failed our students if we have provided them with anything less.
Remember that not everyone decides to take training to become teachers; self-improvement and quality of life are also why students attend. The tools and experiences you gain are universal and may be applied to all aspects of life. Desikachar quotes “Yoga exists because everything is linked…” Our program truly reflects this concept.

About the Facilitator(s)

Janet WardJanet Ward, E-RYT, Senior Lead Teacher

When I was twelve years old my Mom signed us up for “mother and daughter” yoga classes over in the school gymnasium. A little later I had my first conscious experience of some kind of ‘oneness’ doing yoga at home with Kareen Zebroff’s TV show. In my late twenties I began to meditate and this opened the door of a new world. I discovered Kundalini yoga at an ashram in Montreal and for me, that was turning point. I had a sadhana; my own spiritual practice – a liferaft, a haven. During my Teacher Training in Hatha, I fell in love with the Yoga scriptures and heard them calling out to me and my guitar for new melodies. Teaching yoga and mainly teaching new teachers has been my passion and I have done so on a full-time basis since 2002. Outside of my original Hatha training, I am fully qualified in teaching other practices of Yoga, including Yin, Kundalini, Pranayama & Laughter. The sutras keep calling to me, the doors open and the adventure continues. I would be blessed to accompany you on your journey in the essence of Yoga.

Siobhan Keely, RYT, Anantomy Facilitator, Assistant Asana Facilitator

Siobhan KeelyI cannot pin point exactly what brought me to yoga, but I know I wanted to feel more relaxed and open and hoped yoga would help me do that. It did. I had been practising yoga for less than a year when I decided to pursue teacher training, mostly to deepen my practice while on my mat and when out in the real world. I completed my 200 hour certificate right here at Yogacara, and it was the exact kick in the pants start I needed to set foot on my quest for living life more simply and living life with less – less stress, less need to be right, less “stuff”. Do I accomplish this every day? No, but yoga is a constant reminder of how I can. And once I figured out how yoga grounds me and brings me back to NOW, I couldn’t wait to show others. I LOVE teaching yoga. I love watching students grow and learn and expand, both in body and soul. I love what the students teach me about trust and openness. I love that no matter how tired I am or if life is dragging her heels, the students ALWAYS give me energy and a sense of joy.

As and Anatomy Facilitator on the Yoga Teacher Training program, I will help you get down to the basics of muscles and bones, ligaments and tendons, and how to apply this knowledge to the poses of yoga. The subject of anatomy can be overwhelming and is a topic that can be studied for an indefinite amount of time. It is my goal to take away the that sense of bewilderment and instead create an excitement to learn more. Knowing even just basic anatomy will help you move forward in your own practice as well as help your students grow and stay safe in theirs.
As an Assistant Asana Facilitator, I will ensure that you are carefully guided through each Asana taught, in such a way that it may be broken down, clearly taught and modified for a variety of students. No student will leave the training without a full comprehension of teaching Asana and sequencing Asana. We will spend many hours together within this part of the curriculum doing hands on training and inter-teaching within the group.
Yoga has been such a blessing in my life in so many ways, I cannot wait to join you on your own journey of discovering where yoga will lead YOU. The divine spark within me sees and honours the divine spark within you.
