About the Facilitator(s)

Shakti Sunfire is a vibrant and passionate teacher of hoop dance and yoga. Now a resident of San Francisco, she draws on her own experiences and her heavy participation in the community to encourage unfettered self-expression centered in the heart. Her message is one of radical self acceptance. She teaches and performs internationally.

www.shaktisunfire.com

Luna Breeze ~ Exotic, energetic, and entertaining, Luna Breeze extends far beyond the acrobatic. As a hoop dancer, her choreography blurs the line between entertainment and performance art - a focus on the magic of illusion and the interaction of hoop and dancer. She is known for her fusion of modern dance, tradition circus skills, and musicality within her dance. As a teacher she is known for her accessibility, goofy sense of humor and serious attitude of positive empowerment through the ring.

The material in any of Luna’s classes has been acquired through personal exploration in yoga, dance and circus arts at accredited studios around the world. She is a firm believer in the power of research, and the simple act of trial, error, experimentation and fearless play.

Luna is currently attending circus school at Pendulum Aerial Circus Arts in Portland Oregon, where she studies aerial silks, trapeze, and acrobatics, while teaching and performing circus hula hoop for the school. Her days are filled with choreography, training for performance, and studying the human body to ensure that her students and she advance efficiently, safely and happily whether performer or hobbyist!

Safire ~ Safire is a world-renowned circus and fire entertainer, skilled in a variety of movement arts, with a range of performance experience and is one of the world’s most known hoop dancers. She has performed in over 12 different countries around the world and has appeared in dozens of television spots, magazines, newspapers, blogs and more.

Safire has been training in the circus arts since 2006 and works full-time as a professional entertainer and fire dance instructor. She continues to develop her skills through regular training sessions, workshops, theatre courses, and by attending conventions around the world.

Awakening Retreat

Hope Johnson, Tigmonk and Jill Walton

October 14, 2013 - October 20, 2013

Through sharing our wisdom, insight & personal experience we intend to arouse the eternal essence of pure Awareness - which leads to Awakening out of the dream of suffering, competition and dis-ease to a new perspective of unbounded creativity, harmonious relations, limitless abundance and profound compassion.

At the Retreat we will Offer:

* Daily Satsang with Tigmonk (tigmonk.com)

* Daily Interactions with Hope Johnson & Experiential Activities to evoke deeper intimacy with the Inner Guru

About the Facilitator(s)

Hope Johnson is a visionary and lover of Life who previously had her own story of personal and global suffering - which manifested as discontent in every aspect of her life.

After Hope began recognizing and applying the insight constantly being offered from beyond the mind, Hope’s life has consistently become, and continues to become a more creative expression in alignment with her heartfelt dreams and desires.

Through sharing the self she has become, the wisdom she has discovered along the way, and her personal experiences - Hope’s presence can arouse the Guru within those who are sincerely seeking to live their authenticity in this lifetime.

Many of the insights that led Hope along her path are freely shared at http://www.thewaytotheway.com/hawaii-retreat .

Tigmonk is a 31 year old modern day Mystic. His greatest joy is in sharing meaningful Insight & Wisdom with small groups of Sincere Individuals who seek a Sacred Truth. His Teachings go beyond mere intellect, and reach deep into the Heart; making it quite clear that real liberation from suffering & conflict, is a journey that begins and ends with our most Sincere Self.

He considers this unfolding to be a Blooming of the Heart; a natural occurrence that stems from a genuine desire to know what is True about the nature of Self & Reality.  He offers this warning to those who dare enter this space of exploration:
"I am here to peek inside the dream and set fire to the illusion of you, so that You might see clearly the nature of the Infinite You.”

Jill Walton

Jill was born with an intuitive gift and a desire to be of service. At a young age she was sought out as a confidant and adviser. Throughout the years, Jill discovered that everyone had, within themselves, the abilities they needed to resolve their problems.

So she began focusing on helping people uncover their inner wisdom in order to empower them to become masters of their own wellbeing. With deep trust in her Guidance, Jill brings her experience, complete attention, full-bodied focus and keen intuition to every situation.

She offers a loving, compassionate, nonjudgmental environment to foster true and deep sharing. Jill presents new perspectives and possibilities that often open the way to empowerment, change, renewal, and inspiration.

Wassa Dance - Spring Tuning

Lara McIntosh and Marla Simms

Wassa Dance Logo

Join us in seeding a new season of your body’s potential for ease and joyful vitality through dance and movement exploration. Come as you are and let the rhythms take you deeper!

About the Facilitator(s)

LARA MCINTOSH has studied dance all her life and is an active member of Seattle dance, music and public art communities. Lara is the originator of Wassa Dance which is inspired by dances and music from the African diaspora. She has been teaching independently in this afro-fusion style since 1997. Travels to Brazil and Mali, West Africa and ongoing study with locally based teachers are great influences in her work.

“Wassa” is the Bambara name Lara received during her first visit to Mali. It translates as “one who acts for joy and fulfillment.”

Lara's curiosity about movement and cultures are combined with a deep love for music and community building. She has a long history of collaboration for performance, event production and movement education which include ten years with THREAD DANCE, multiple collaborations with artist Cameron Anne Mason and the Fremont Arts Council for parade and pageant presentations. During her six years on the Board of Directors of the Seattle World Percussion Society (SWPS), she helped oversee the production of the World Rhythm Festival at Seattle Center, which is one of the largest free percussion festivals in the country. Lara is an adjunct faculty member of the ARC School of Ballet. She also offers school residencies and conducts annual intensive workshops in Washington State and Hawaii. www.wassadance.com (Photo by Michael Harthorne)

MARLA SIMMS started her love affair with the human body and its magic from the inside out. She experienced the boldness and explosive energy of a gymnast in her youth. Later, she studied modern dance and performed in the Southwest and the Pacific Northwest (Pat Graney & Co. and THREAD DANCE). She then turned to focus on the exploration of other’s bodies through the study and practice of massage. She has been a massage practitioner and massage educator for 20 years.

She teaches continuing education classes for massage practitioners in the greater Puget Sound area. As an educator, she pursues a better understanding of the soft tissues of the human body and how they react, however subtly, to the stresses and challenges of life and living. For Marla, the body continues to be a venue of art, joy, and discovery. marlasimms.massagetherapy.com/

Lara McIntosh, Marla Simms and Chiara Guerrieri

Wassa Dance Logo

About the Facilitator(s)

LARA MCINTOSH believes that anyone who moves is already a dancer. She has danced all her life. As a performer, teacher, and choreographer,

Lara explores rhythm, spirit, craft, and community to unlock the movement potential in others. An active member of the Seattle drum-and-dance communities for many years, her Afro-infused dance style is inspired by travels to Brazil and Mali, West Africa. “Wassa” is the Bambara name Lara received during one of her visits to Mali. It means “one who acts for joy and fulfillment.” Her curiosity about movement and cultures, combined with a deep love for music, are lifelong muses. She offers residencies in local schools and intensive retreat-style workshops internationally. (Photo by Michael Harthorne)

MARLA SIMMS: started her love affair with the human body and its magic from the inside out. She experienced the boldness and explosive energy of a gymnast in her youth. She then turned to the focus of exploration of other’s bodies through the study and practice of massage. She has been a massage practitioner and massage educator for 20 years. For Marla, the body continues to be a venue of art, joy, and discovery.

CHIARA GUERRIERI: began studying Yoga to rehabilitate and strengthen her core after a car accident; she continues to practice and teach yoga as a way to heal the separation between body and mind. Chiara teaches us how to breathe, how to connect the breath with the body, how to track physical sensations from moment to moment, how to find internal wisdom as body, breath, and mind work together to inspire our practice. Chiara's classes are accessible to anyone with a basic background in yoga. She has a strong interest in injury evaluation and treatment, and welcomes students recovering from injury or other physical pain. She has studied Hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Programming; she uses her language skills to weave trances that wake us from our routines, allowing us to explore new pathways.
