reiki is a passive form of qi gong used to promote deep relaxation and a natural balance. practiced across the globe by over 1 million people, reiki helps each of us become more aware of the life giving force within us. as this awareness deepens, so too does our ability to heal and grow naturally. science now recognizes the primacy of consciousness. this understanding is helping us all shift from a materialist worldview to understanding the currency of energy in all things … especially our health.
About the Facilitator(s)
Greg’s teaching is rooted in Ayurveda, Bhakti Yoga, Tantric Wisdom, Global Sounds, Energetic Alignment and free form movement. Greg inspires and empowers potential and truth from insight developed from his own organic healing from chronic pain, scoliosis and depression. Greg's teaching style is infused with his embodiment of Reiki and Meditation, using Asana as a bridge toward self-awareness, healing and personal evolution. He offers a dynamic and unique blend of fluid Vinyasa, elemental Kriyas, Pranayama, hands on healing and stillness sure to challenge, nourish and awaken. His teaching invokes wholeness and vital living.
Greg was introduced to Reiki in 1999 studying with Indigenous healers in the Yucatan Peninsula followed by an eight-month immersion in India in 2003. Greg facilitated meditation for hundreds of participants daily while deepening his own practice of hands on healing and silent sitting. As soon as Greg returned stateside in 2004 he picked up Yoga and began pursuing training in BodyTalk – consciousness based healthcare that draws upon Vedic Wisdom, Chinese and Western Medicine and Quantum Physics. He now integrates all practices to offer a full spectrum and comprehensive approach to dynamic health. Greg has been teaching yoga since 2008.
He is currently working toward completing a 500 hour Yoga Alliance Certification through the teacher training communities of Mas Vidal (Dancing Shiva Yoga & Ayurveda) and Shiva Rea (Samudra Global School for Living).
LARA MCINTOSH believes that anyone who moves is already a dancer. She has danced all her life. As a performer, teacher, and choreographer,
Lara explores rhythm, spirit, craft, and community to unlock the movement potential in others. An active member of the Seattle drum-and-dance communities for many years, her Afro-infused dance style is inspired by travels to Brazil and Mali, West Africa. “Wassa” is the Bambara name Lara received during one of her visits to Mali. It means “one who acts for joy and fulfillment.” Her curiosity about movement and cultures, combined with a deep love for music, are lifelong muses. She offers residencies in local schools and intensive retreat-style workshops internationally. (Photo by Michael Harthorne)
MARLA SIMMS started her love affair with the human body and it’s magic from the inside out. She experienced the boldness and explosive energy of a gymnast in her youth.
During her teens and beyond, she discovered qualities of movement under the loving and eclectic watch of teachers and choreographers. She then turned to the focus of exploration of other’s bodies through the study and practice of massage. She has been a massage practitioner and massage educator for 20 years. For Marla, the body continues to be a venue of art, joy, and discovery.

About the Facilitator(s)
Susan Bowen. Studio owner of Thrive Yoga, Rockville, MD is a RYT500 and Certified ISHTA Yoga Instructor & Certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga Instructor. Susan’s classes are challenging and inspire students to explore the practice of unifying the breath, mind and body to a place of comfort from the common Western habit of distraction and discomfort.
Susan has studied and practiced more than 12 yoga styles and encourages students to explore what works for them in yoga without concern for the “right” way to practice. Susan was first introduced to yoga 20 years ago while in college and has studied and practiced yoga while traveling for 15 years in the corporate world. Because of many years in a high-stress job (tight shoulders and distracted mind), Susan sequences yoga classes to help students de-stress, de-tox and become more aware of their own vitality. Sometimes that means getting more fit through movement and breathing exercises… sometimes that means hands-on assistance to stretch an ailing or tight muscle! Susan cues her classes to inspire awareness of the whole being-physical, emotion, mental and spiritual.
Susan has been honored as a leading woman entrepreneur in Montgomery County, MD for over a decade. As the Director of Programming for Thrive Yoga, she has been responsible for bringing both classical and cutting-edge yoga and wellness programs and staff to the studio. Susan facilitates and lectures at corporate, non-profit, and government events and retreats on a variety of topics including: stress-management, goal setting, and techniques for greater vitality in a busy world.
Zoe Marae. Dr. Marae has a PhD in biological science. For 15 years, she did medical research on complex multi-system disease leading to a joint appointment at Harvard Medical School and Children’s Hospital, Boston. Zoe Marae is a scientist who believes in “magic” (Vibrational magic, that is). She playfully refers to herself as a “mapmaker” specializing in formats (maps) of higher personal energy flow. These very practical maps lead to transformation inside (peace and flow) as well as outside (new life attractions). Her “zoeisms” combine vibrational physics with graphic humor… functional and entertaining!
