Men's No Ka Oi Adventure Week at Kalani

Wade Holmes and Richard Koob

April 15, 2014 - April 21, 2014

guys waterfall hawaiiNo Ka Oi Adventures and Kalani Retreat Center are teaming up to provide a week of fun and adventure on the Big Island of Hawai’i!   Come explore this amazingly diverse island paradise with like-minded men.  Couples and singles are all welcome.

About the Facilitator(s)

Wade Holmes

Wade Holmes

Wade has been sharing his passion and love for Hawai’i since arriving on O’ahu thirteen years ago. He worked as an environmental educator while completing graduate work in Ethnobotany at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa before moving to the island of Maui in 2006.

Since 2009, Wade has been leading private excursions on the islands of Maui, the Big Island, and Kaua’i with his company No Ka Oi Adventures. His gay-friendly excursions have been featured in The Advocate, Frontiers in LA, Out Hawaii, EDGE Media, the Bay Area Reporter, and more.

Richard Koob

From growing up as a corn-fed Minnesota boy in a loving family of eight, I moved on to Hawaii in 1973.

Richard Koob

That is, after a few years in Germany (college and travel), New York (art studies, civil rights work and the beginnings of my dance career), and France (dancing, mostly modern).

In Hawaii I continued performing, reaching out to communities and schools with programs celebrating cultural diversity. I also taught movement in the schools, continued programs that liberate men (from socialized limitations to creativity, community and intimacy), and instructed modern dance at the University of Hawaii campuses in Hilo and Honolulu, where I received a Master of Fine Arts degree. Beyond dance, which has matured into a continuing love for hula, I also enjoy the visual arts, particularly figure drawing, painting and architecture. Sport passions include volleyball, bicycling and swimming. Our Puna area offers lots of splash fun including dolphin play, snorkeling in coral castles, body surfing, and sensuous waterfalls -- all of which are included in Kalani adventures I often help lead.

About the Facilitator(s)

Lino Laure

Lino LaureLino Laure has been practicing meditation for over 25 years. A year after learning meditation, he had a spontaneous spiritual awakening, as the surge of kundalini energy awakened within him prompting a whole new level of life, self- awareness and direction. Since 1993 he began study and received guidance from his teacher, JK Gurukal, a master healer from Kerala, India, learning aspects of yoga, meditation, martial arts and the healing arts: applied sciences from the tradition of Dhanurveda. While much of what Lino has learned has been essentially for his own edification and spiritual evolution, he enjoys nonetheless sharing aspects of what he has learned with individuals who are open to a better understanding and experience of the art of yoga and meditation. Since 2010, Lino has taught extensive workshops and retreats in yoga and meditation at Kalani. He currently lives in the East Coast. www.linolaure.com
