About the Facilitator(s)
Amanda Trusty is known as “The Roar Girl” for her viral burlesque video that was filmed right here at Kalani. Her popular blog, amandatrustysays.com, raises awareness on emotional eating, body struggles, and the lessons that Hawaiian culture can teach us. Amanda's 24 years of dance training and teaching combined with her personal journey with binge-eating disorder has prepared her to help others cultivate their own roar, and share it with this world that so desperately needs it.
Olivia Petzy used to hide in the bathroom and cry during dance class in college. She ended up in a Shrink Session class, and while she did cry, they were happy tears of freedom. Addicted to the feeling of joy in movement, Olivia knew she had to share this bliss with others. She trained directly with Shrink Session creator Erin Stutland and loves every perfectly imperfect shimmy and shake.

About the Facilitator(s)
Arjuna Vinn Marti is an award-winning choreographer, global performer, master teacher and creator of Soul Motion™ Conscious Dance Practice and has been teaching movement for over 35 years. He found his life’s calling at a young age, and, in the process of following his path, has evolved a transformative movement practice that has touched the lives of thousands.
Amara Pagano first worked with Gabrielle Roth in 1991 and has been a full-time student and teacher of this work ever since. She was certified to teach 5Rhythms, Waves in 2001 and 5Rhythms, Heartbeat in 2010. Co-founder of Waves Studio in Olympia, WA, former director of the 5Rhythms program at Studio Maui and co-founder of One Dance Tribe, Amara has since developed a new practice called AZUL Conscious Dance. She believes in the power of movement to transform suffering to joy and to awaken us to live our fullest potential.
Davida Taurek has a diverse background in the creative arts and is a certified instructor of Watsu, WaterDance, Motion Theater, and the 5Rhythms. She is core faculty for the Moving Center School in California and leads classes and workshops worldwide. Davida will be offering private healing sessions in Waterdance as well as leading several group experiences. Waterdance is an opportunity to immerse into quiet work of healing and transformation that leaves you not just relaxed but reborn. She will also offer a 4 hour 5Rhythms workshop and several evenings of Motion Theater that builds community and makes art out of everyday living.
Ronny Temple is a 5Rhythms Teacher with a wide breadth of experience in movement meditation. His most salient experiences though are in the realm of meditation and spirit. Ronny fell in love with the 5Rhythms practice around 2003 and ten years later is still in the honeymoon phase. Ronny focuses on nurturing a light heart on and off the dance floor. His teachings have a decidedly Tantric (meaning, in this context, holistic) flavor to them.
Honor Morningstar walks a path of dance medicine, firmly rooted in the maps of the 5Rhythms. Called to dance her whole life, Honor trained with Gabrielle Roth and was given the blessing to teach in 2008. Tinted with sass and verve, precariousness and possibility, Honor’s wild, tender, and compassionate style invites you back into your unique, authentic, and vibrant expression of self. Born in Kenya, based in Australia, and having lived and travelled extensively to some amazing places on this remarkable planet we call Home, the most insightful journeys remain those she has experienced on the dance floor. Life, love and the Rhythms continue to deeply inform her own practice and teachings.
Dayashakti Geeti has been exploring Conscious dance and movement as a spiritual and creative path for many years, taking her to Japan and America to learn and study with her teachers Vinn Marti and Kajo Tsuboi. Geeti now lives in Sydney, Australia and teaches Soul Motion and Kiryuho Japanese movement to people of all ages and abilities as ways of bringing greater awareness to the relational dimensions of our selves both within our communities and within the universe. Movement and dance for Geeti is a powerful expression that can connect us to our eternal natures through the sacred vessels of our human bodies in this life. Geeti is also a lover of Kirtan and Bhakti yoga.

Max came to the conscious dance movement through the "doorway" of a 5 Rhythms group in Austin,Texas called Body Choir. After 5 years with that group he moved to Hawaii and started Ecstatic Dance Big Island. This group spawned many other groups around the country, the largest of which is Ecstatic Dance East Bay, which itself has spawned many groups around the country, as well as the planet. This movement is expanding. “I feel like my particular contribution to the conscious dance movement and specifically what is now commonly referred to as Ecstatic Dance, has to do with combining the electronic dance music that is part and parcel of the DJ culture and the 5 Rhythms or Wave format that was created by Gabrielle Roth. The wave is a perfect fit for facilitating ritual, community dance space. I enjoy using electronic music for these events, equally I have a vastmusical collection and nothing is off limits if I believe that it will inspire, motivate, move and touch the participants on the dance floor. I am excited to see this movement grow because I believe it is a valuable and worthwhile contribution to our New Earth and our awakening human collective.”
Maxwell first came to the Big Island of Hawaii in 2001 as a volunteer at Kalani Honua. He soon discovered Ecstatic Dance and was so inspired by the musical, dance journey that he began to attend the weekly dances at Kalani as well as attending various yoga classes a few times a week. In 2003 he completed his first yoga teacher training with Kathy Elder and began teaching weekly Intuitive Yoga classes. In the same year he became a Licensed Massage Therapist and began offering sessions. He then went on to travel to Chicago for a Yogic Arts teacher training and then onto India to practice Ashtanga Yoga in Kerala and discovered Vipassana Meditation in Gujarat. When he returned to Hawaii and the dance community, he yearned for more tribal and world music. So this inspired him to become a DJ. In 2009, he DJ-ed at Kalani’s Ecstatic Dance and has been collecting music and DJ-ing ever since. At Kalani, he also teaches Intuitive Yoga classes, Intuitive Aquatic Movement classes (in the warm therapy pool) and works as a Massage Therapist, offering sessions on the massage table and, uniquely, in the water. He also enjoys playing various musical instruments, spinning fire, bodysurfing and playing in Hawaii's nature.
Lino discovered the joy of Ecstatic Dance at Kalani in 2003 when he moved to the Big Island of Hawaii 10 years ago. Dancing has always been part of his life and the nature of Ecstatic Dance, as a conscious dance process, fulfilled his spiritual inclinations. In 2009 when Lino moved to Kalani, he accepted the honor of facilitator for Ecstatic Dance Hawaii (one of the largest venue in the US) and has been facilitator for Ecstatic Dance Hawaii since. In his personal life, Lino has been practicing meditation for over thirty years and studied under the auspices of his teacher, JK Gurukal, a master healer and martial artist from Kerala, India, learning aspects of yoga, meditation, martial arts and the healing arts: applied sciences from the tradition of Dhanurveda. Lino is also a painter and artist. He enjoys sharing all of his various skills by way of teaching and facilitating workshops and classes at Kalani, on the Big Island of Hawaii, where he also resides.
