Tracy is the Program Director for Polarity Healing Arts and has been practicing in the healing arts since 1988. She is a graduate of the Institute of Psycho Structural Balancing, where she also teaches the APP program. Tracy utilizes and weaves her training in the martial arts, massage therapy, yoga, psychic tools and essential oils into her classes, offering a diverse, integrative and practical approach to his work. Tracy is greatly devoted to sharing her knowledge with others for the purpose of personal deepening and connection to their own inner wisdom.

Michael Ceraso

Michael Ceraso began his journey as a bodyworker/healer through practicing Zen meditation and receiving a wide range of excellent bodywork.

After receiving reiki attunements and practicing for a year he traveled to Thailand where he studied Reflexology at Wat Po in Bangkok and Traditional Thai Massage at ITM in Chiang Mai. Upon returning to Hawaii he continued to explore healing work through intensive studies of Cranial-Sacral Therapy and Polarity.

These studies laid the foundation upon which he has added Swedish/Oil Massage and other modalities. He recently spent another two months in Thailand where he studies with 3 different teachers, learning new techniques and deepening his practice.

In addition to practicing Traditional Thai Massage, He incorporates it and other modalities into a deeply healing blend, helping clients to release pain and stress and get in touch with their true nature.

He has been the Wellness Director at Kalani since 2004 and orchestrated last year's Kalani Bodywork Training Intensive for the last 4 years as well as teaching its Traditional Thai Massage course.

Students learn the purposes, effects, and contraindications of massage, as well as the history and current state of the massage profession. Practical knowledge of good hygiene, proper draping, and the use of bolsters is taught.

Amy Doff has enjoyed teaching Human Anatomy, Physiology & Kinesiology to beginning massage students and allied health students, in numerous settings, for over 6 years. She hopes to influence her students to appreciate and take care of their bodies and their physical, social, political and energetic environments. Amy has been practicing medical massage/soft-tissue rehabilitation for the past 13 years and enjoys providing treatment work.

Amy is passionate about participating in our food system (from ground to grind and root to crown) and utilizing the opportunities we have as Massage Therapists to share self- awareness and health education with our clients. She promotes Wellness in Action (meeting our daily needs in ways that also nourish our physical, mental, spiritual and environmental health).

Amy has training in Massage Therapy (LMT, Hawaiian Islands School of Body Therapies, 2001), Anthropology (BA) & Occupational Safety & Health (Minor, UH Hilo, 2006) and a Master’s in Public Health, focusing on Health Policy and Management (UH Manoa, 2010). She currently serves on the Hawai‘i County Subarea Health Planning Council and collaborates with the Matungu Community Development Charity, a sister Community Based Organization, in rural western Kenya, to plan public health and community empowerment programs.

This course fulfills the State of Hawaii requirements for a general overview course in human anatomy. All body systems are covered, with special attention to those most relevant to massage therapy.

Dr. Mark Olson

Dr. Mark Olson has taught anatomy and kinesiology at Kalani numerous times. He is the former director of the Massage Therapy Program at Pioneer Pacific College in Oregon, and a former faculty member at the Traditional Chinese Medicine College of Hawai`i (TCMCH) and the Big Island Academy of Massage.

Dr. Olson is a licensed massage therapist in Hawaii and a certified Watsu practitioner. He has an M.A. in Education and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, specializing in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuropsychology and Neuroanatomy, which he has taught at TCMCH and for graduate and medical students at the University of Illinois.

Dr. Olson's neuroscientific perspective on massage and the human being is both unique and accessible. In this class, all major systems of the body are covered, with emphasis on those most relevant to massage therapists as well as the actions of all of the muscles. The information is presented using multiple techniques (lecture, powerpoint, handouts, drawing, movement, etc) that appeal to all learning styles.
