About the Facilitator(s)

Liz Heffernan, MA, RYT-500 is an experienced yoga teacher of 14 years. Her journey with yoga began as a teenager when through a seemingly random yet auspicious opportunity, she took a yoga course at a nearby college. In Savasana (corpse pose) she recalls experiencing a profound sense of peace and well being, a feeling both unknown yet incredibly perfect. Ever since, her life has been a journey seeking that deeper connection to the magic and effulgent soma true yoga offers. She is certified in Integrative Yoga Therapy and Kripalu Yoga, has completed Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training with Tim Miller and is currently immersed in the study and practice of Anusara Yoga. As a teacher, she weaves together a practice, which invites her students to dive inside and shift their limiting self-perceptions to access their joyful center. Through clear instructions in alignment, a strong focus on the breath and the heart expanding philosophy of tantra, she inspires her students toward greater degrees of freedom in body, mind and in spirit.

Darius Kalvaitis, Ph.D. is a long time elementary educator and outdoor adventurer. He is current an Assistant Professor of Education at University of Hawaii –Hilo, a specialist in Children’s Ecopsycology and a No Child Left Inside Advocate. Always fun and engaging, Darius, is a natural; inspiring all ages to find joy in nature.

Omkar RYT-200 has been inspired by yoga since his grandmother introduced him to it in the early 70’s. In the mid-90’s, yoga helped him overcome debilitating back problems caused by stress. After retiring from corporate America in 1997, yoga became an integral part of his daily life. He completed his Yoga Alliance certified Sivananda teacher training in 2005. In 2006 & 2007 he made pilgrimages to India to expand and intensify his knowledge of yoga. He teaches Yin, Kundalini, Restorative and alignment-based yoga practices. Presently, he is studying Anusara Yoga; its universal principles of Alignment and associated Kashmir Shaivism philosophies. He loves all types of yoga practices.
