Puna Music Festival 2013
Come celebrate Puna and enjoy local music at the Puna Music Festival, presented by KAPA FM, home of Hawai`i's music, and supported by the County of Hawaii and Hawaii Tourism Authority.
With four major concerts and a schedule full of workshops and special gatherings, this week long celebration is sure to be fun for all ages.
This year's festival kicks off on Sunday, May 5th with a free, day-long, outdoor concert at Pohoiki. See cultural performances from Puna's hula halaus, youth from four local schools, the Puna Men's Chorus, Sean Robbins, and two other headliners to be confirmed.
On Wednesday, May 8th, we feature the Kalapana Night Market and the extraodinary Hawaiian music this venue has become known for. The night market draws people from all over the island, and this special evening will be an extra-special tribute to home-grown Hawaiian music.
Indulge yourself with dinner, shopping, and sound at our Pahoa Night Music event on Friday, May 10th. We will feature a headline act - last year we featured Medicine For the People. Come for a whole lot of fun, and let music inspire you.
Our closing concert on Saturday, May 11th, will be an intimate talk-story/concert featuring one of the top names in Hawaiian music. Last year we were proud to feature multiple Na Hoku Hanohano award winners Kuana Torres Kahele and Kainani Kahaunaele for our Intimate Evening Concerts.
The Puna Music Festival is more than just entertainment. This event uniquely focuses on crowdsourcing, bridging the audience/performer divide, and Hawaiian music culture. Experiment with and develop your musical talent in one of our immersive three-day workshops.
