Welcome IGLA Athletes!
Kalani is a gay-owned retreat center on the Big Island of Hawaii. Here you will have a rare opportunity to experience authentic Hawai’i – the wild, untamed coast, with its black sand beaches where dolphins come to play; authentic and ancient Hawaiian culture; the power and energy of the world’s most active volcanoes, which spill their lava into the ocean just 5 miles up the road; and the glory of the rainforest, its abundance providing tropical fruit, avocado, and other produce to our kitchens.
Remarkably, the surrounding area has become the hub of gay life on the Big Island, uniquely combining rural life in this remote portion of coastline with an abundance of art, spirituality, healing arts, yoga, and performing arts.
We have prepared a variety of pre and post packages exclusively for IGLA (International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics) 2011 participants. We welcome you to experience the spirit of aloha, here at Kalani – a memory that will last for a lifetime.

Anuenue Freedom Festival (LGBT Pride) – July 1-6th, 2011
Join us over the July 4th holiday weekend for a most unusual and beautiful Pride celebration: the Anuenue Freedom Festival. Anuenue means rainbow, an important symbol honoring the diversity on this sacred land.
The highlight of the weekend will be Sunday July 3rd, a day full of dance, performance, and activities, culminating with fireworks at the Point, overlooking the ocean. A trek to the lava and to other key sites, and an opportunity to enjoy the performing arts festival, round out this package – making this an incredible time to visit Kalani.

Big Island Adventure – June 30th - July 6th, 2011
The Big Island is one of the most incredible places on earth. Thirteen of the world’s fifteen ecosystems thrive here – and so does traditional Hawaiian culture.
Our Big Island Adventure package will give you a taste of the incredible beauty and dramatic power of the newest land in the world. Yoga and Rejuvenation for Aquatic Athletes – July 11-17th, 2011
Kalani is renowned for yoga, drawing some of the biggest names in the industry to incredible studio spaces surrounded by the jungle and the ocean.
Join celebrated Kalani yoga and wellness teachers following IGLA, and explore elements of yoga and other forms of rejuvenation, all tailored to the aquatic athlete. We will combine studio yoga with yoga in and near the pool, including in our body temperature watsu pool. This week includes two specialized yoga classes a day with a 1 hr massage or wellness treatment, awesome adventures, beach/pool relaxation, and access to all the other events and activities on-property.

Kalani Women’s Summer Retreat / Kalani Men’s Summer Retreat – July 11-17th, 2011
Join a vibrant circle of women or men as we immerse into Kalani nature, culture, and wellness, creating the space for the emergence of a more vital you.
Each group will enjoy same-gender activities as a group, receive professional body work, relax, renew, and frolic in Hawaii's volcanoes, waters and forests while building new friendships. This week includes a 1 hr massage or wellness treatment, awesome adventures, beach/pool relaxation, and access to all the other activities on-property, including yoga and Hawaiian culture classes.

Introduction to Yoga: Retreat for Men – July 17 – 23rd
Enhance the summer experience with a dedication to your own health and renewal. Join an all male group of beginning yoga practitioners on the Big Island of Hawaii as we explore the basics of a gentle yoga practice.
Under the guidance of Joel, JaRed and Dennis, we’ll explore kundalini breathwork and meditation, stretching, chanting and partner yoga in a relaxing, tropical environment. Afternoons will be free to explore black sand beaches, snorkeling and other nearby volcanic areas.
The Kalani Introduction to Yoga Retreat was created specifically for men because, in the west, the world of yoga is dominated by millions of wonderful women. Our goal is to provide an atmosphere of male camaraderie and brotherhood in which to learn this ancient healing art.
