The Great Film:  What's Bugging Seth

When Seth Singer, a young deaf man, is asked his name one hears 'Death Dinger.' A minor flaw in a man who is determined to let nothing, not even his handicap, stop him from forming a successful bug extermination business.

As the rejections pile up, he finds comfort and romance with Alma, a double amputee, who knows how unfair the world can be. However, as Seth finds himself on the verge of love and success, the return of his old flame threatens to destroy everything.

The Great Cause:

Nestled in Puna on the Big Island of Hawai`i is an amazing, award-winning facility called the Hawai`i Youth Business Center (HYBC). HYBC is managed by the non-profit organization Grassroots Community Development Group, 501(c)(3) #200987986. Puna is the fastest growing district in Hawai`i, but one of the poorest with few opportunities for area youth.

Our organization has successfully educated hundreds of youth since 2005 in an innovative dual credit program in which at-risk high school students earn college credit. Our After-School skill-building program teaches filmmaking and graphic arts, culinary arts, and music/sound recording to 12-18 year olds.

Admission by donation - $5-10 sliding scale.
