Kalani Experience Holoholo Outing

Included in your Kalani Experience Vacation package is one HoloHolo Outing.

Holoholo is a Hawaiian word that translated means, “To go for a walk, ride or swim... just for the pleasure of doing so”.

Where we live, in the district of Puna, there are so many pleasurable things to experience and places to see... all in close proximity. We would like to invite you to create your very own Holoholo Outing by selecting your choice of the following two or three Puna destinations listed below. You have your choice of the below options based on how much time you would like to spend at each within our 3 hour timeframe.

Coconut Beach and Lava Viewing

You can enjoy a short hike over the lava fields to Coconut Beach, the newly formed black sand beach in Kalapana. We will briefly “talk story” about the history of these newest flows as you view in the distance smoke rising up from the Pu’u O’o vent of Kilauea Volcano!

MacKenzie Park and Lava Tube

Touch the spirit of the `āina (the land) as you hike through and explore a natural, untouched lava tube at the amazing Mackenzie State Park. Walk through a mysterious grove of trees and then experience the dark and humid cave formed by Pele's lava.

Lava Tree State Park

Lava Tree State Park is a captivating area with a trail that takes you back to ancient volcanic eruptions. You will be amazed by the exotic and lush landscape that includes lava tree molds and huge cracks in the earth.

Volcanically heated Warm Pond

A local favorite, Ahalanui Warm Pond is a great place to swim and relax. Volcanically heated spring water feeds into a pond which mixes with ocean water. Temperatures are in the range of 90 degrees Fahrenheit and 32 degrees Celsius when waters are warm.
